The Wurlitzer Organ in Victoria Hall

We are delighted to be working with the Cinema Organ Society and hope you will be able to book and enjoy a half hour taster for your group, or school. Phone Richard Stephenson 0845 400 2208 after 7.00pm or e-mail: richard.stephenson@cinema-organs.org.uk.

The Society’s Northern Wurlitzer was built in 1937 and installed in the Gaumont Cinema, Oldham.

Since leaving there in 1961 it has had three homes before arriving at the fabulous grade 2 listed Victoria Hall, Saltaire. The opening concerts were in April 2009 and from the very first night the organ was declared a world-class instrument and one of the finest installations in the UK. The Wurlitzer is used for concerts, dances, wedding receptions and other private hires. Members can practice on the Wurlitzer each month and tuition can be arranged. And yes, it does rise up through the stage on a lift.
