Since leaving there in 1961 it has had three homes before arriving at the fabulous grade 2 listed Victoria Hall, Saltaire. The opening concerts were in April 2009 and from the very first night the organ was declared a world-class instrument and one of the finest installations in the UK. The Wurlitzer is used for concerts, dances, wedding receptions and other private hires. Members can practice on the Wurlitzer each month and tuition can be arranged. 1 Victoria RoadShopping experience in Saltaire. Supporting Totally Locally

Titus Salt knew what he was doing when he put 40 shops in the village. He soon noticed that thousands of people came into the village from miles to shop here. Before long three sets of tram company owners opened their tramsheds around Saltaire to bring even more people in. The variety of shops in the village was second to none in the 1850s. For a fascinating insight into the shops of the time, get hold of  Roger Clarke’s Book ‘A Penny for Going’ A brilliant history of Saltaire through its many and varied shops. It can be purchased in the Saltaire United Reformed Church Shop at £8.50

Today there are so many unique and individual shopping experiences to be had in Saltaire. Just stroll down Victoria Road, or potter along  GordonTerrace and Bingley Road. Go into Salts Mill, or venture down Caroline St.

  1. I would like to organise a day out for Marshland Local History Group, Goole, East Yorkshire.
    either Sat. 21st June 2014 or Sat 28th June 2014 , Sat. 20th September 2014 or 27th September 2014

Which of these days would be more suitable for our coach party of 49–53
If we could stagger the guided walk or tram journey

  4. Hello!
We booked a Salt Walk with you in 2013, and my participants advised me to do this again in July 2015. It would be especially interesting for those new in my group. But those who attended 2 years ago would love to come again, too. Thank you Maria and colleague. You were so kind and even managed to do part of it in German.
So: Would it be possible to have a Salt Walk with you on July 22nd, maybe at 11a.m.? We will come by coach and be on the way to Manchester Airport for our flight home, but will have 2 or 3 hours for Saltaire.
    Thank you so much.
Best wishes for the New Year
