Memories of a great bike shop.

My uncle had Butterfield’s veg and grocery shop on Saltaire road in the 40s/50s and wonder if anyone has any pics of it? I think it stood somewhere opposite Wycliffe Primaru school

Double Take. Great film sets and atmosphere recreated in Saltaire with the filming of Gentleman Jack. Silk top hats and elegant frock coats just like the ones Titus Salt wore. Titus never had the pleasure of showing Anne Lister his mill as it was built years after she died in 1840. On the trail of Shipley pubs of the past.
The Rock Inn on Crag Road, where last orders were called in 1970; the Blue Bell closed its doors in 2001; the Prince of Wales on Saltaire Road was a thorn in the side of Titus Salt & the Canal Tavern had a boat to take tipplers to and fro from the Thackley side. Cobblers! John Morton’s at 126 Leeds Road, Windhill, Shipley was the place to go for boots and shoes for the walk to Sugden’s on Cragg Road to buy your ale and porter. As for those long johns hung out to dry in full view on Leeds Road, Titus Salt would NOT have approved. ... See MoreSee Less
