Testimonials from individuals and locals
Allan Lewis ‘You may identify me as one of your party last weekend, and I just wanted you to know that your performance was the highlight of the day, long may you continue to give so much pleasure to everyone. Best wishes Allan Lewis. PS, no wonder you had so many children, flashing those bloomers’
Janet & John Steadman ‘Very many thanks for your wonderfully entertaining and educational guided walk. It was the best time we have had for ages and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. You are very knowledgeable and your witty descriptions, impersonations and stories made our day. We certainly will be coming back.’
Linda Emmett and friends ‘What can I say? The Salts Walk, which seven of us signed up for on Saturday 29th January was the best guided talk I have ever been on and this includes all over the USA. Maria is the most enthusiastic and entertaining person. She is soooo funny! The day was bitterly cold but no one discontinued the walk, because they just wanted to hear more and more. Wonderful and well worth going on.’
Kath & Mike Worrall ‘We cannot thank you enough for your wonderful tour of Saltaire. It was unforgettable and so enjoyable that we are recommending it to all our friends!’
Robin Schofield ‘I thought I would send you an email to say that your tour of Saltaire made the day.’
Margot & Don Perrett from Australia ‘Thank you for your wonderful walk. We were the couple staying in George Street. We do walking tours whenever possible and yours is more memorable than the best we have done in London and many European walks. Thank you so very much!’
Penny Couling ‘I wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed our walk on Wednesday morning. We were totally impressed by all aspects of the site, and our guide provided so much fascinating information and was a charming person.’
Phyl Thaw ‘Dear Maria, what an entertaining guided tour you gave us on Thursday! You really brought Sir Titus, his village and the mill to life. Many thanks.’
J. R Haisley ‘I can’t tell you how much we loved our tour with you yesterday. It really made up for our disappointment at the last-minute cancellation by the BBC of our tour of the Salford Media Studios. For one of our group, it was the third time she had been round with you and my second. For everyone else, they’ll be back! We all feel that you are exceptional!’
Elspeth Mosedale, Shipley ‘Just a quick email to say thank you for the tour today. My friends loved it and it rounded off a great weekend showing them why we moved up here!’
Clive Winton from Colne ‘What a lovely way to bring our heritage back to life. We enjoyed Mrs. Dooley’s tour around the village, especially me, as I was Mr. Henry Dooley and hopefully responded well to Mrs. Dooley’s story, with twelve children and one on the way. Thank you Maria for a great day out.’
Derrick Palmer ‘I can say that all of us enjoyed the entertaining manner in which you brought to life the history of Sir Titus Salt and Saltaire village. You certainly know well and are enthusiastic about your subject.I have visited Saltaire a number of times but intend this summer to do one of your guided tours and learn more. Thank you again for your enthusiastic and humorous talk.’
Meriel Brown, Shrewsbury ‘I’m e-mailing you on behalf of the three of us that came on your guided tour last Saturday 18th Feb…..the Brown Clan! Just to say that we enjoyed it very much indeed even tho’ it took a while to defrost afterwards! We will be recommending it to all our friends and will endeavour to encourage them to visit. We were enthralled by all the information you were able to give us…..how on earth do you remember it all? We’re ashamed to say that we were very ignorant of all the historical facts and were delighted to learn so much in so short a time. You yourself made the tour delightful…’
Kevin Flanagan ‘Just a short vote of thanks. My wife, daughter and I visited last week and joined the walk with Batley Girls Grammar School. We really really enjoyed the “talk” (!!) and the walk – very good fun but also very interesting. Well done and thanks.’
Ian and Pauline Macdonald ‘Many thanks for allowing us to join your tour today. It was very enjoyable and you brought the past alive for us. This was much better than looking around the village on our own. We will pass on the good word.’
Heather Cantle ‘I just wanted to thank you and your colleague for our guided walk and talk yesterday. We were all well entertained and really enjoyed it all. It was very interesting to get an alternative view on the life and times of Titus Salt – not the accepted line that’s given about him only being a great philanthropist. We’d enjoyed all the other bits of Saltaire, but the walk and talk made it really memorable.’
Lehan and Clive Medlock ‘I’d just like to thank you for an amazing afternoon. The walk around Saltaire was wonderful, both my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed it- so much so we’re hoping to bring his parents some time in November. Again, thank you for a perfect afternoon.’
David and Sian Batchelor, Leeds ‘On behalf of our weekend group, especially the children, we wish to express our unanimous appreciation for the superb guided tour of Saltaire that you gave us on Saturday afternoon. You gave us a very vivid portrait of Titus Salt and the people who lived in , and controlled, his model village. We will certainly be recommending you to our friends and aquaintances.’
